We have been very busy getting some long overdue updates done to our website and are still working on them, but I wanted to get this issue out to you now.

1. MAKING YOUR INITIAL CONTACT VIA EMAIL - REVISITED

We talked about the use of e-mail in earlier issues and I can only hope that many of you were receptive to our message. However, due to the ever increasing amount of "unsolicited" e-mail that we receive, there are still many Global B2B's out there who have not gotten the message.

We receive between 150 and 200 "unsolicited" emails every single day. We have between 200 and 300 different email filters set up to intercept these and summarily "delete" them. 

If we are receiving this many, then I am sure other Global B2B'ers are also and you must understand that in most instances you are "wasting" your time if you use your initial email to unload "all" of your valuable company and product data.

Email is a quick, easy and almost free means of communication. Unfortunately, there are millions of individuals out there who do not know how to use it effectively. If I am stepping on anyone's toes here, too bad.

Email is a great tool to facilitate communication between parties, once a proper introduction has been made and the receiving party is "receptive".

Many people fall for the siren's song of buy 250 Million emails for only $25.00. Think about it, even if only1/4 of 1 percent respond, you could earn millions. Yes, folks, I am sad to say there are many people who believe this B.S..

Most people know how to set up Email filters that take these "junk" "unsolicited" emails and DELETE them automatically. For those that find ways around the filters, even if the subject matter interests me, I will find a way of going direct to the source and first of all report the person who is SPAMMING us and then make a purchase from the company direct, rather than given anything to the SPAMMER. But in most instances, I don't even read any part of the email when I see the subject line, I  simply hit the Delete key.

A BIG PROBLEM for you as Global B2Ber's is that if you are SPAMMING hundreds, thousands or millions of  global email addresses, you may not realize or care that "you are costing" the receiver not only time to delete them, but MONEY to receive them.

Yes, in many places people have to PAY by the minute charges to receive their email and here you are sending out these HUGE 500-800KB or 1Meg messages with jpg or gif pictures attached. Think for a moment if it were you receiving all of this and you did not ask for it.

After a period of paying out your money to receive this email that is often totally unrelated to your business, you will find a way of filtering out ALL of the messages that  have jpg or gif files attached or if the message is over a certain size it may be filtered out or one with attachments.

So the bottom line is this, if you are unloading everything on these poor, unsuspecting prospects with your very first email, you are wasting your time.

Here are our suggestions for the effective and professional use of email:

1. A faxed message will receive much more attention than an email. Consider opening a dialogue with an introductory fax that contains your email address and hopefully you website.

2. If you do not have a website already, GET ONE. You can have a website of your own for only $29.95 a year TOTAL. Here is a service that provides you with just that, check them out at:

Also, by having your own website, you get your OWN Email addresses). We talked in an earlier issue about how businesspeople "frown" on the FREEBIE addresses and in some cases they actually have all email coming from those addresses FILTERED OUT or automatically DELETED without ever  viewing even the subject.

You also will SAVE A TREMENDOUS amount of money on the  cost of printing brochures and flyers when you have a website. We used to spend several thousand dollars a year on printed flyers, but now that 98% of our sales comes from the Internet, we spend "0". Your product line may require that you continue to print catalogs and brochures, but once you have a well laid out website I would be willing to bet you will cut your printing expenses in half.

3. If you insist on using Email for your initial contact, make it a short, introductory message. Use a subject that identifies your product line as one that the receiver has requested product information about. Example:  Textile Manufacturer Seeking Importers or Textile Products Available for Import or Importers Sought by Textile Manufacturer

I know these are not flashy, but they state the purpose of your email and get the attention of the "textile" importer to open your message and read it.

4. In the body of your message, state how you came by their name and introduce yourself (briefly) and state that you would like them to visit your website to review your product line or give them your Email Autoresponder address so they can request a larger and more detailed message be sent to them. Key here is 'they' request, you don't force down their throat. If you do not have an autoresponder, just do a search on Yahoo.com or MSN.com for "Free Autoresponders".

5. DO NOT - DO NOT - attach files or jpg/gif pictures. Many (including us) simply refuse to open an attachment unless we have been told 'in advance' that we are being sent an  attachment from a specific email address or person. There are simply too many virus programs out there to risk it and I advise you to begin doing the same thing.

6. Once a dialogue has been established, either by telephone, fax or short email, then is when Email will prove itself to be the NEXT most valuable communication tool you have next to your own WEBSITE. There is no EXCUSES for not having a website when HOSTING services cost so little. Many people inquire about our trade directories with the  first question being, do they have email addresses. We advise them that only about 10% have supplied email addresses.

Why have only 10% supplied them? Because, they simply DO NOT wish to be bothered by UNSOLICITED SPAM messages about products and/or services they are not interested.

If we can conclude this Email Revisited message with one simple truth that we have found in using Internet Marketing and "follow up" email to promote our products and services globally, it is that  TARGETED MARKETING substantially reduces the number of  prospects you have to deal with and also adds $$$ to your profits much more quickly than blasting your message to masses of uninterested and easily irritated very busy businesspeople who may just take action that will cause you to lose your ISP for SPAMMING.

Last, let me give you one final bit of advice. DO NOT use the software programs that are out there which SPIDER the  Internet looking for the Keywords associated with your  line of products. You may market or manufacturer Clothing, so you key in Clothing - Apparel - Garments and these  programs go out there and find every website that has these keywords mentioned. They then locate any email address by looking for the @ in the you@emailspammer.com and  bring that list back to you.

THIS IS NOT TARGETED MARKETING. IT is SPAMMING and nothing less. The other fallacy of these programs is they will  gather ALL the email addresses within a website so if there is one for Webmaster@spammer.com or You@spammer.com or customerservice@spammer.com - you are going to be emailing your message multiple times to the same person or group. Now just how happy do you think that person(s) are going to be, especially if they have to pay a per minute charge for each piece of SPAM you just sent them?

2. NEUTRALIZE THE UNSPOKEN OBJECTIONS TO INCREASE YOUR SALES

You can increase your sales by neutralizing the unspoken objections your prospects may have to buying from you  ..BEFORE you ask them to buy. Neutralizing unspoken  objections will increase the sales you get from your web  pages, sales letters and personal presentations.

Neutralizing objections is easier than it sounds. Most of  your prospect's objections to buying fall into 1 of only 3 categories. Let's look at these 3 categories of objections  ..and some proven tactics you can use to neutralize them.

1. THE MONEY OBJECTION

Most of your prospects have (or can get) the money to buy  what you're selling. But they have a money objection. Some  think your price is too high. Others believe they can get a  better value from a competitor.

You don't have to reduce your price to neutralize these  Money Objections. Here are 2 proven tactics that work for any business.

Enhance the perceived value of your product or service. For  example, some businesses include with each sale a manual,  CD or downloadable e-Book crammed with information related  to using their product or service.

Another effective tactic is to promote yourself or your  company as a "Specialist" catering to the special needs of  a narrowly defined targeted market. Prospects feel  comfortable when buying from somebody who thoroughly  understands them and their unique needs. They want to do  business with you -- even if you don't offer the lowest  price.

Here's a simple 3-step process you can follow to develop  yourself into a specialist:

Step 1: Divide your primary market into several more  narrowly defined specialty markets.

Step 2: Learn everything you can about prospects in each  new specialty market ...and about how your product or  service meets their special needs.

Step 3: Customize your sales message to appeal directly to  the special interests and unique circumstances of prospects  in each specialty market.

TIP: If you're attracting many prospects who really don't  have (or can't get) the money to buy your product or  service -- you need to change your market. Target a market  where prospects have an intense desire for the benefits  produced by your product or service ...AND the money to buy  it.

2. THE PRIORITIES OBJECTION

Some of your prospective customer didn't buy from you  because they put a higher priority on spending their money  for something else. You can get many of these sales by  persuading them to make YOUR product or service their  priority.

For example, develop some special offers your prospects  can't resist. Create offers so enticing your prospects feel  compelled to make your product or service their priority  purchase.

TIP: Include a deadline for every offer. It forces  procrastinating prospects to make a decision. Many will  decide to buy immediately so they don't forfeit your "good  deal".

3. THE SKEPTICISM OBJECTION

Your prospects bought things in the past that didn't  produce the promised results. That makes them skeptical of  your promises. Some of the ways you can overcome their  skepticism include:

** Eliminate any risk of loss. Guarantee your customer's  satisfaction. Offer to refund your customer's money if they  don't get the results they expect.

** Prove your history of delivering what you promise.  Provide testimonials from satisfied customers as evidence  you've lived up to your promises in the past.

** Make yourself available -- personally or by phone. This  is especially effective for Internet Marketers. Prospective  customers feel more secure when they can talk with a real  person.

Neutralize all 3 of these unspoken objections before you  ask your prospects to buy. Do it in your web pages, your  sales letters, your personal presentations -- every message  designed to generate sales. You'll see an immediate  increase in your sales volume.
